The Federer Express.

i think i should have just been a sports journalist instead. of all the sports out there i practically watch a 3rd of them. the worst thing for a sport addict like me is when my passion gets the better of me. when Mic Doohan had left the sport, it took me almost 4 years before i could recognize myself with the sport again. when Jordan left the NBA, naturally the adrenaline watching the sport kinda spured away, until i could finally click with Jason Kid. i even almost became a beach soccer follower when Cantona left Manchester United. but thats the beauty of sports, it somehow pulls you back in, passion or no passion. sometimes the love for the game just brings you closer to the game rather than the player or the team. when Senna died in 94, i thought i was the end, how little did i know i just took to Schumacher like water, but ofcourse i had already loved his driving style since 1991, when i watch this huge battle between him and Hakkinen in the Formula 3. same goes to tennis....

after Pete Sampras retired, i just followed the tennis without a champion to cheer for. there were many champion around, Agassi, Hewitt, and ofcourse the much thought of as Sampras' successor Patrick Rafter. but they just weren't there with the power and passion, the ice cold game Pistol Pete had brought to the game. today i watched Roger Federer play against Nicholas Kiefer. as much as i thought that Wimbledon would be an Andy Roddick, i think i change my mind. over the years i have had a thing for Federer's game play and today he proved why. he is not a powerful player, he relies on his smart plays. something Roddick can learn from. Roddick is on court now, crusing, no no actually serving his way pass Igor Andreev. i'm expecting an all high ranked finals for the mens. afcourse i can't discount Lleyton Hewitt, who is still hanging in there. the rest of the top seeded players are all out of the tournament. Henman is out, Nadal is out, Safin is out too. Ferrero is still there though, but i don't think for long, his next match is against world no.1 Federer in the 4th round.

for the womens, i'm just a little not that buzzed as to who i wanna see in the finals. since my favorite player Jennifer Capriati is not in the tournament. she's out with a shoulder injury till august, thats when the US Open starts. naturally the next best thing to want would be to see the defending champion Maria Sharapova or the 1st seed player Lindsay Davenport, but none of them revs me up, when i watch them play. Capriati was the WTA badgirl, scolding the umpire, fighting with the ball girl. last year at the US Open she even demanded that the blimp flying over the court be moved away, as it was distracting her, she's funny. i think i'll go with Kim Clijsters for this years Wimbledon. she's a machine, iced cold, out there doing her business, always in the zone. but i dunno how much her wrist operation would affect her game. saw her play and blew away Roberta Vinci in a straight sets win. her next match would be against Davenport herself, lets see how she does with that match on Monday. Williams sisters don't look like the force they were a couple of years ago. one player who looks like she is playing the best ever tennis of her career is Amelie Mauresmo, she is just unbelieveable here this year. lets hope she gets into the finals as well. but i have to say the 18 year old Indian, Sania Mirza, she played good too, and she was so cute, asking the umpire, 'what was wrrrroooong....'

BBC is being a racist farts of a channel, only broadcasting the british players matches, frankly besides the UK no one gives a shit about Andy Murray or Tim Henman. we wanna watch more of Roddick, Federer and Hewitt and those good matches, like the one between Popp and Arthurs, that was one hell of a match, also the one between Garcia-Lopez and Djokovic. well can't expect much. even Formula One they keep focusing on Jenson Button, but thats itv1. i guess its the same everywhere, even TV3 was only focusing on the Saubers in 1999. which was so horrible to be watching it from the stands, as we wanted to see the battle between Hakkinen and the returning from a broken leg Schumacher. can't complain much, this is sports. love it as it is but hate the game not the player.

i miss watching sports, from the comfort of my sofa...
